1 . Are you controlled by the "spirit of fear"?

Scripture: “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.” – 2Timothy 1:7 (AMPC).

Meditate: As you can see, God is making it very clear that He did not give us a “spirit of fear”, but a powerful, loving, and disciplined spirit. Yes, God wants us know that He has not given us a spirit that makes us afraid but a spirit of sound judgment and personal discipline, abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control.

God wants us to take note that this evil demonic “spirit of fear” brings out terrible ungodly characteristics in us, such as: cowardice, timidity, indiscipline, lack of power, lack of peace, lack of self-control, and an unbalanced mind! And why is He pointing this out? So that, when we see these ungodly, wicked, sinful, immoral and corrupt characteristics display in our lives, then we immediately need to realize that it’s not His Spirit that’s controlling us but this demonic spirit called fear.

Of the hundreds of satanic, evil, demonic spirits that attack and control humans, why is this “spirit of fear” singled out? 1. So we understand and realize that fear is not just a human emotion but incited by an evil spirit! 2. That we need come against this “spirit of fear” in Jesus name, which brings out the worst in and through us. 3. When we allow this “spirit of fear” to have his way, then satan takes control of our lives and we’ve put him in the drivers seat!

Now how does this demonic “spirit of fear” work – deception! It enters via deception, i.e. by deceiving humans in order to control their mind and thoughts; let me very briefly reveal some of the ways this spirit uses to accomplish its mission – to keep humans in bondage and as a salve to sin and its master – satan: 1. Fear of missing out in doing certain things because you think it might not actually be wrong in doing so, by thoughts such as – everyone does these things and are enjoying, why not me, why miss out? 2. Fear of losing your job – frustrates and pushes the person to the extent to act unbecomingly. 3. Instills fear by thoughts such as, this sickness is going to destroy you. 4. Quickly marry, regardless if God approves it or not, as you’re getting old, what will society think? 5. Your looks are not good enough, so fake it by painting your face crazy looking for human approval – oh, we have today such apps, which will make you look like actresses. 6. Hey, you better wear clothes as those people or you’ll be considered old-fashioned. This results in you dressing up scantily (with revealing or skimpy clothing) like the ungodly. 7. Better think about tomorrow, who will look after you in your old age? 8. To be afraid or apprehensive and fearing for your lives. 9. Fearing to go out at night. 10. Fear of the dark. 11. Fearing the worst. 12. Fearful in praying and talking about Jesus in front of people… and the list goes on…

At the outset, all these things I’m pointing out look proper and as valid reasons, but one look at all these in the Light of Scripture, darkness of how this deadly spirit of fear is at work is revealed! One would wonder, why would anyone after knowing these truths want to allow this evil spirit of fear to take control of their lives and have his way, yet sadly, not only unbelievers, but most in Christendom are influenced and controlled by it, of their own free will. The root cause of why all this occurs is usually because of the ignorance of God’s Word and His will for your life. How do you see yourself in the light of this message? Controlled by the Spirit of God or by this evil, demonic “spirit of fear”?
